Professional Certificate Program in Development Finance
Intermediate Level

The Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI) is pleased to announce the Professional Certificate Programme (PCP) in Development Finance –Intermediate Level. The programme is scheduled to hold from July 29 to August 3, 2019, at the DBSA Training Center, Midrand South Africa. The programme partner is the Pan Africa Capacity Building Programme (PACBP).


Learning Outcome

At the end of the programme, the participants will:

  1. Demonstrate good understanding and knowledge in Project Preparation and Development.
  2. Improved skill in SME project financing and structuring finance for projects.
  3. Develop understanding of Climate Finance and how to promote bankable climate finance SME projects. 
  4. Enhanced skill in Micro Finance credit delivery.
  5. Develop and manage entrepreneurs.

Course Content

The training modules are structured as follows:


The training will adopt blended learning. It will focus on practical learning using real life scenario, case studies and practical exercises. The faculty members are experts with hands-on experience in development banking and finance.

Target Group

Officials/Participants who successfully completed the PCP in Development Finance- Foundation Level course. Other officials in Development banks and finance institutions with upward of 5 years and above may be considered, but would have to go through AADFI assessment for consideration.


The Faculty for PCP in Development Finance are experts with cognate experience in development banking finance operations.

Program Administration

a. The PCP in Development Finance is administered by a Directorate comprising AADFI and PACBP. The faculty team is made of professionals with in-depth knowledge in development banking and finance operations.

b. AADFI training activities are governed by a set of rules to facilitate maximum learning and foster good relations among participants, instructors and Programme Directorate. Below are the relevant extracts of the rules for this workshop:

i. Nomination of a candidate is deemed to imply his/her readiness to comply with the advice of the instructors and the Programme Directorate.
ii. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, including group meetings promptly and regularly.
