The Professional Certificate Program (PCP) in Development Finance-Foundation Level is an introduction to the early stage of development banking/development finance operation. It is aimed to expose participants to the concepts and operations in development finance.
The PCP program focuses on developing practical and hands-on skills in development finance operations. The teaching at the foundation level is fundamental, and the course approach is technical. Mainly introducing participants to the world of development finance.
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a good understanding of knowledge and concepts of development finance operations;
- Develop an understanding of the issues involved in development finance and the global trends;
- Build skills in development bank/development finance lending operations – micro – medium, and long-term lending operations, profile project/investment for financing;
- Carry out risk analysis and mitigation in development financing activities concerning development projects and
- Develop the ability to nurture and support projects and entrepreneurs.

- Case studies and Group Practical Exercises
This Foundation Level course of the PCP will consist of seven-day virtual learning sessions that involve an integrated learning approach. These sessions will include plenary sessions, case studies, group exercises and discussions, role plays, term papers, and participants’ presentations to facilitate learning, help understand development finance operations, and generate ideas and solutions to address the sector’s needs.
The AADFI Directorate will administer the workshop. A set of rules governs AADFI’s training activities to facilitate maximum learning and foster good relations among participants, instructors, and the Workshop Directorate. Below is the relevant extract of the rules for this workshop:
- The nomination of a candidate is deemed to imply their readiness to comply with the advice of the instructors and the Workshop Directorate.
- Participants must promptly and regularly attend all online sessions, including group practical sessions.
Programme fee paid is non-refundable for non-attendance at the programme. However, it may be used for a future programme with an equivalent registration fee to be held within the next year.
Furthermore, the fee paid will not be refunded or used for future AADFI programme if an institution of a registered participant fails to notify AADFI of withdrawal in writing 20 working days before commencement of the programme.
Nonetheless, the nominating institution reserves the right to replace a registered staff with another staff 20 working days before the start of the training.
AADFI takes measures to ensure that programmes announced are not canceled. However, under circumstances beyond its control, AADFI reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the dates of its programme. In such circumstances, registered participants will be communicated accordingly.
- AADFI Member institutions: €655 (Six Hundred and Fifty-Five Euros) per participant.
Early Bird: €605 per participant (Six Hundred and Five Euros): Register and pay by March 10, 2025 to qualify for the discount. - Non-AADFI member institutions: €860 (Eight Hundred and Sixty Euros) per participant.
Depending on participant’s status, a visa and international vaccination certificate are required to enter Côte d’Ivoire. For participants from countries that require visas to enter Côte d’Ivoire, the necessary documents and procedures for the processing of entry visas will be provided when dispatching Acceptance Letter.
Please note that the AADFI cannot directly procure visas for any prospective applicant. Therefore, participants are advised to forward their nomination forms early so that they could commence necessary travel arrangements in good time
