Call to participate in the 2021 PSGRS Self-Assessment and Rating Exercise of African DFIs

Abidjan, July 6, 2021 — The Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI)’s Secretariat is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2021 PSGRS Self-Assessment and Rating Exercise of African DFIs. The participating institutions are requested to submit their Self-Assessment results to the AADFI Secretariat not later than September 30, 2021.

As a reminder, the toolkit required for the self-assessment, comprising the Rating Questionnaire Worksheet, Summary Rating Score Sheet, Background Information, and Instruction Manual, is included in the PSGRS 2nd Edition brochure, downloadable via the Association’s website at www.adfi-ci.org.

Importantly, following the recent reforms brought to the PSGRS Self-Assessment Process, the certified self-assessment results received by the Secretariat will now be cross-checked with information obtained from other sources, before the participating institutions be classified, listed on the Table of Honor, and received a Certificate of Compliance.

Besides, the participating institutions with a compliance index of 80% or above will be eligible for the rating process. This stage of the exercise involves the evaluation of the institutions’ development impact potential. At the end of the rating process, the institution that qualified for this stage of assessment will appear on the Rating Table under category A, B, or C.

African DFIs, particularly the national DFIs, are encouraged to fully participate in the 2021 exercise.

2026 AADFI Annual General Assembly

The Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI) is pleased to announce that its 2026 Annual General Assembly will take place from May 24 to 29, 2026, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, on the sidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings.

The Annual General Assembly will be held on the theme “Augmenting Sovereign Finance in Africa: DFIs Unlocking Growth and Resilience through NAFA,” with a focus on the transformative role of African Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) in strengthening Africa’s financial sovereignty. The discussions will align with the AfDB-led New African Financial Architecture (NAFA), a system-level framework designed to mobilize long-term investment, reduce Africa’s cost of capital, and reinforce resilience through coordinated financial systems and deeper domestic capital markets.

The Annual General Assembly will convene leaders of African DFIs, government officials, regional institutions, and development partners to further explore how African DFIs can catalyze local investment, de-risk strategic projects, and strengthen economic autonomy to build resilience against global shocks and bridge the continent’s infrastructure funding gap.

Further details will be shared in the coming weeks.
