The 20th African Banker Awards, held at the Kempinski Hotel in Brazzaville on the margins of the African Development Bank Annual Meetings, celebrated excellence across Africa’s banking and financial sectors. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Congo, representing President Denis Sassou Nguesso; the AfDB President, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah; and senior financial leaders.
The Association of African Development Finance Institutions (AADFI) celebrates its member institutions that received awards on this occasion:
- Banker of the Year: Mr. Serge Ekué, President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD), was honored for exemplary leadership in advancing regional development finance and economic integration.
- Sustainable Bank of the Year: Bank of Industry (BOI) of Nigeria received recognition for embedding sustainability and inclusive industrial development at the core of its operations.
- DFI of the Year: African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) was awarded for its outstanding role in trade finance, economic resilience, and the promotion of intra-African trade and industrialization.
These recognitions underscore the contributions of African DFIs to sustainable development on the continent.
