Climate Change Project Identification, Appraisal & Financing (CCPIAF)

vide (1)

Overview

Nowadays, financial institutions focus their portfolios on lending and direct their resource flow to projects and investments that prioritize climate change considerations. Projects that incorporate climate change considerations demonstrate sustainability and are more likely to secure better funding and support. Such projects align with established green project principles, including climate change mitigation and adaptation, natural resource conservation, biodiversity, and pollution prevention and control.
The challenge for most lending institutions in the region is a lack of competence skills in identifying projects that meet the green project criteria, as well as in appraising and financing green projects. A dearth of bankable projects is a key factor in the low investment in climate projects. The training will build capacity to identify and appraise green projects through a climate change and sustainability lens. Participants will be equipped with the skills to identify potential risks and opportunities and ensure alignment with sustainability principles.
