Overview

The Advance Level of the Professional Certificate Programme (PCP) in Development Finance is a higher-level strategic training in development finance. The training is aimed to expose participants to strategic issues in leading and managing DFIs, and global trends in the development finance environment. 

At the Advance level, participants are assumed to be professionals vast in the technical aspect of development finance or appointees to top management positions in DFIs. They require knowledge of the development finance management landscape and interpretation of technical presentations to enable them to take informed decisions in investment and institutional management. The focus is mainly on general technical issues and decision-making strategies in DFIs.

Learning Outcome

At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of strategic issues in leading development finance operations,
  • Assess national development performance,
  • Ability to mainstream sustainability agenda in development finance operation,
  • Lead and set direction in implementing SDGs projects and national development priorities,
  • Lead in project turnaround and business rescue
  • Champion mobilization of innovative resources for impact development

Faculty

The faculty is made up of experts with practical experience in the development finance sector.

Programme Administration

a. The PCP in Development Finance will be administered by the AADFI Directorate. The faculty team is made of professionals with in-depth knowledge in development banking and finance operations.

b. AADFI training activities are governed by a set of rules to facilitate maximum learning and foster good relations among participants, instructors and Programme Directorate. Below are the relevant extracts of the rules for this workshop:

i. Nomination of a candidate is deemed to imply his/her readiness to comply with the advice of the instructors and the Programme Directorate.

ii. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, including group meetings, promptly and regularly.

Cancelation Policy

Programme fee paid is non-refundable for non-attendance at the programme. However, it may be used for a future programme with an equivalent registration fee to be held within the next year.

Furthermore, the fee paid will not be refunded or used for future AADFI programme if an institution of a registered participant fails to notify AADFI of withdrawal in writing 20 working days before commencement of the programme.

Nonetheless, the nominating institution reserves the right to replace a registered staff with another staff 20 working days before the start of the training.

AADFI takes measures to ensure that programmes announced are not canceled. However, under circumstances beyond its control, AADFI reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the dates of its programme. In such circumstances, registered participants will be communicated accordingly.

Travel Documents and Arrangements

The Government of Kenya has lifted the requirement for an entry visa into Kenya, starting January 2024. All international travelers are no longer required to obtain a visa from an Embassy or Consulate before arrival. The entry visa requirement has been replaced with an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). All travelers, except citizens of East African countries and foreigners who fall under the exemption category, must complete eTA and receive the authorization before traveling to Kenya. The eTA application can be accessed via: www.etakenya.go.ke

Please note that the AADFI cannot directly procure the eTA for any prospective applicant.  Therefore, participants are advised to submit their nomination forms promptly so that they can make necessary travel arrangements in a timely manner.

International Vaccination

The International Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Fever Vaccination Card) is also required to enter Republic of South Africa.

Target Group
Officials in Development Banks & Finance Institutions (DFIs) who have successfully gone through the Intermediate Level of the program. Other officials in Development banks and financial institutions with cognate experience in the development finance sector may be considered..
