Overview

For so many years the role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Head of IT within an organisation has been focused on the Technology aspect of the Information Technology. Over time this has created a major value proposition challenge for the IT business unit as a shared service within an organisation.

An IT department has become more of a cost centre than a strategic business unit that is actively involved in empowering an entity to successfully carry out its mandates. Moreover, information explosion triggered by the further ICT developments and proliferation of new computer technologies, has created information chaos in organisations and further complicated the role of IT executives. Besides increasing the rate of hard copy outputs, generation of a whole spectrum of information artefacts such as data, electronic records, digital information (reports and dashboards) and any other informational content in different formats has exponentially increased.

Understanding role of EDRMS in information governance value chain is fundamental in assisting IT leadership to have visibility on their responsibility for ensuring the organisation’s information architectures to facilitate management of information assets are developed and implemented for the benefit of their organisations. By focusing on information service delivery as opposed to traditional attention to infrastructure, an IT executive can be on a solid path to provision their internal clients with targeted information to drive operational success and achieve strategic objectives. Shareholders and external stakeholders will also be able to access enriched information to make informed decisions.

This 3-day course is designed for CIOs and Heads of IT who want to re-imagine their roles and leverage the power of information to drive business success.

Learning Objectives

The objective of this course is to bring to the attention of IT leadership a transformative approach not only to their roles but also to the institutions they lead and influence. The course seeks to empower the CIO and Head of IT to understand that the current information age dominated by an explosion of information artefacts in a myriad of electronic formats requires putting solid foundations for harnessing and streamlining the information asset. This will fully enable their host entities to thrive and take advantage of the power of AI and other next generation technologies.
