Global “disruptive” events of the current times – the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, fragility in most African countries, the current Russian-Ukraine war, and many others – are having a great impact on business organizations and resulting in changes in their risk domain. These changes have reemphasized the need to scale up risk management capacity in financial institutions. Financial institutions are faced with risks and crises arising from various sources in their daily operations. The challenge is, therefore, to properly assess these risks to continually achieve organizational objectives. Proper understanding of these risks will entail adopting a holistic and strategic approach that efficiently helps identify, assess, and build a risk-resilient culture in organizations.

The course provides a comprehensive framework for the efficient management of risks in financial institutions. The participants will improve their understanding of risks and risk issues, quantify threats, and develop risk mitigation measures.
