LAND BANK’S LEADERSHIP CHANGES

The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa (Land Bank) recently announced interim changes to its executive leadership, as a result of the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer, Themba Rikhotso. Effective 16 February 2026 Jabu Mphambo has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer with Vonani Mabunda assuming the role of Chief Banking Officer, succeeding Mphambo.

These appointments come at a time when the Bank continues to prioritise and strengthen operational stability and advancing its strategic and developmental objectives within South Africa’s agricultural finance sector.

Mphambo’s appointment ensures continuity in leadership, with a focus on sustaining the progress achieved in recent years to strengthen the Bank’s financial position and deepen its development impact in support of the agricultural sector.

The leadership changes form part of a broader transition, reflecting the Bank’s responsiveness to evolving dynamics within both the agricultural and financial services sectors.
