As financial institutions confront recent challenges in the business environment resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and the Russian-Ukraine war, among others, one of the major concerns that arose is the impact of these disruptive challenges on financial institutions’ lending, business survival, and MSMEs’ growth. The inability of most businesses to honor their obligations to financial institutions has resulted in increasing corporate debts, non-performing loans, and MSME failures. Most Financial Institutions are having difficulties with the performance of their loans to businesses and recoveries. This scenario has called for measures to strengthen skills in DFIs to sustain lending and countercyclical lending and ensure business recoveries in these challenging times.

The program will discuss new dimensions in corporate debt management and business recoveries. The participants will scale up their competence in strategies for restructuring distressed MSMEs and business rescue. They will share inter-country and institutional experiences.
