\u00a0Salinas Calombolo Project Strengthens Angola’s Industrial Capacity, Promotes Import Substitution and Supports the Economic Development of Benguela Province<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Development Bank of Angola (BDA) has financed the implementation of Angola’s first industrial plant dedicated to the production of Caustic Soda and Calcium Hypochlorite, owned by Salinas Calombolo and located in Benguela Province.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supported through the Deutsche Bank Credit Line, the project represents a strategic investment in the development of Angola’s chemical industry and the diversification of the national economy. With a finance amount of  EUR 24,831,412.76<\/strong> (Twenty-Four Million Eight Hundred Thirty-One Thousand Four Hundred Twelve Euros and Seventy-Six Cents), the project enabled the establishment of the country’s first industrial facility dedicated to the production of Caustic Soda and Calcium Hypochlorite\u2014essential products for water treatment, sanitation, public health, manufacturing industries, and a wide range of industrial processes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The industrial plant has been fully installed and is currently in the final stages of preparation to initiate the  operations, with the remaining technical and operational adjustments being completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production of these strategic chemical goods will contribute for reducing Angola’s dependence on imports, strengthening national supply security, and enhancing the competitiveness of the economy by ensuring greater availability of critical raw materials for strategic industries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built on an area of approximately 5,000 square metres<\/strong>, the facility has the capacity to produce 52 tons per day (TPD) of Caustic Soda and 54 tons per day<\/strong> (TPD) of Sodium Hypochlorite, in compliance with international standards, enabling it to meet the domestic and the regional demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is expected to create 32 direct and permanent jobs<\/strong>, while generating broader economic benefits throughout the value chain. It will contribute to the development of technical skills, facilitate technology transfer, and support the growth of Angola’s industrial capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting these initiatives ensures BDA’s commitment as an Angolan development finance institution, aiming to supporte transformative investments that promote industrialisation, expand national productive capacity, create skilled employment, and strengthen the private sector, in line with Angola’s national development priorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than financing an industrial facility, BDA is investing in Angola’s future by supporting initiatives that create added value, strengthen domestic production, promote industrialisation, and contribute to a more resilient, competitive, and diversified economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
