Les entreprises qu\u2019elle finance, les secteurs qu\u2019elle soutient et les investissements qu\u2019elle rend possibles influencent l\u2019orientation d\u2019une \u00e9conomie pendant des d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La d\u00e9cision de National Development Bank (NDB) du Botswana de s\u2019engager dans un processus de certification en durabilit\u00e9 dans le cadre de la Certfication SSCI (Sustainability Standards and Certification Initiative) repr\u00e9sente donc bien plus qu\u2019un simple engagement institutionnel. Elle traduit une volont\u00e9 de renforcer la mani\u00e8re dont la Banque met \u00e0 profit son mandat, ses ressources financi\u00e8res et ses capacit\u00e9s institutionnelles pour contribuer \u00e0 la transformation \u00e9conomique du Botswana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depuis plus de six d\u00e9cennies, NDB accompagne le d\u00e9veloppement du Botswana et intervient aujourd\u2019hui dans des secteurs essentiels \u00e0 l\u2019avenir \u00e9conomique du pays. \u00c0 mesure que la Banque \u00e9volue, l\u2019enjeu consiste \u00e0 faire en sorte que ses financements contribuent davantage \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9mergence d\u2019entreprises comp\u00e9titives, au renforcement des cha\u00eenes de valeur, \u00e0 une plus forte cr\u00e9ation de valeur ajout\u00e9e et \u00e0 de nouvelles sources de croissance \u00e9conomique g\u00e9n\u00e9rant des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices durables sur les plans social et environnemental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La certification en durabilit\u00e9 fournit le cadre institutionnel n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 cette transformation en int\u00e9grant les principes de durabilit\u00e9 dans la gouvernance de la Banque, dans le d\u00e9veloppement de ses activit\u00e9s, dans ses d\u00e9cisions d\u2019allocation du capital et, en d\u00e9finitive, dans la contribution de ses financements \u00e0 l\u2019avenir de l\u2019\u00e9conomie botswanaise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour NDB, le certificat d\u2019acceptation marque son engagement formel en faveur de cette transformation institutionnelle. Sa v\u00e9ritable port\u00e9e ne sera pas mesur\u00e9e par le certificat lui-m\u00eame, mais par l\u2019institution que lNDB deviendra et par la valeur cr\u00e9\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce aux financements qu\u2019elle mobilisera au b\u00e9n\u00e9fice de l\u2019\u00e9conomie du Botswana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J\u2019adresse mes f\u00e9licitations \u00e0 Mme Ogone Madisa, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de NDB, ainsi qu\u2019au Conseil d\u2019administration, \u00e0 la direction et \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019\u00e9quipe de la Banque pour avoir accept\u00e9 cette responsabilit\u00e9.
